Fire Suppression System - BURPG
FireX is the Fire Suppression System for BURPG's Liquid Engine Test stand.
Guiding Principles: I entered into designing this system with 3 guiding factors; simple, inexpensive, and put out any fire that may occur.
I did fluid flow analysis to determine the optimal pipe size for the pump we had in house. The piping starts off with a 1.25" ID flexible hose going from the pump to the test stand. To maintain pressure and compensate for hose roughness, it transitions to a 1" PVC pipe which runs parallel to the ground on top of the stand. Two vertical 3/4" pipes run off this. The nozzles are connected to this. They are 60 degree full cone N nozzles which are specifically designed to have high flow to fight fires.
